Getting around Tokyo

The Tokyo subway system is well-developed, punctual, cheap and very safe. At all places there is written information in English and the station do not only have a name but also a code (For example the Ochanomizu station has code M20). There are two companies operating the trains (in central Tokyo) which can be a bit confusing since a ticket for one operator is not valid on another operator’s services. However, a good solution to this is called PASMO or SUICA. You can buy it in vending machines on the subway station. The deposit is 500 yen (slightly less than 4 Euro) and then you top up the card with any amount. You can use this card on any subway/train line. And before you leave Japan you can get the remaining amount back.
